When do the excursions occur?
All excursions take place during the summer break as to not interfere with the school year.
Who pays for the excursion?
The educators assume 100% of the program cost. There is no upfront cost for the school district.
What is the school district’s role?
The district has the final say on how the program works in their schools. This includes setting a limit on the number of participants as well as deciding who may attend. See program details page.
We also ask the school district to help actively promote the ATP to their staff members.
How many credit hours is the program?
The ATP is a 45 hour program which includes the time spent on the pre-trip and post trip excursions, the activities on the excursion itself and the development of lesson plans.
I don't see how a particular subject or grade level fits into the travel experience. How do I know if this program will be meaningful for them?
Itineraries are designed to include all subject areas and grade levels. However, it is up to the individual teacher to prove how travelling to the actual location will impact their curriculum. This is part of the application process.
What prevents any teacher in the district from travelling on their own and asking for credit?
Teachers do NOT receive credit for the actual travel portion of the program. They receive credit ONLY for the time spent learning and applying the authentic teaching strategy. Therefore, separate travel should not qualify for credit remuneration.
Is Edu-Ventures fully insured?
Yes. Edu-Ventures has fully liability coverage. A copy can be sent to your school.
Is there a waiver for teachers to sign?
Yes. We can provide a waiver that teachers sign to removes liability from the school district.
Can an educator attend more than one trip?
Yes. But each time, the educator must submit an application to justify why travel to the location is meaningful to their curriculum. Educators that participate multiple times will learn more advanced application of the ATP.
